Power outages are affecting parts including a wide area of West Cork as a yellow warning for thunderstorms continues.
The alert is in place for parts of Cork, Kerry and Limerick and lasts until 6pm.
West Cork has had some thunder and lightning through the morning.
Macroom is one of the worst affected areas with over 1500 homes and businesses without power.
Met Eireann is warning of lightning damage, possible power outages, localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
