The investment coincides with the 26th anniversary.

Lugus Capital, together with joint venture partner Patron Capital, has announced a €1.5 million investment programme at Blackpool Shopping Centre in Cork. Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Blackpool Shopping Centre, the investment programme is aimed at modernising and enhancing the customer experience.

The investment underlines Lugus and Patron’s commitment to creating a market-leading retail destination for the Blackpool community, and the wider Munster region. The first phase of the investment programme, which began in September, includes a full re-tiling of the mall. The second phase, scheduled to commence early 2026, will deliver a refreshed and modern environment for visitors, including new bulkheads for tenant signage, repainted communal areas, upgraded lighting, and new seating areas designed to enhance the overall shopping experience.

Speaking on the investment, Roger Dineen, Head of CRE in Lugus Capital said: “Our vision is to position Blackpool Shopping Centre and Retail Park as a best-in-class retail destination in Cork and Munster. This investment demonstrates our commitment to modernising the physical environment while also ensuring that our retailers and customers enjoy the highest quality shopping experience.”

John Hartnett, Centre Manager of Blackpool Shopping Centre, added: “Blackpool Shopping Centre has been at the heart of the community in Blackpool for 25 years. This investment marks a new era for one of Cork’s most established retail centres and ensures we will continue to serve our shoppers in a vibrant and welcoming setting. We’re excited to see the centre evolve while maintaining the friendly, accessible, and community-focused atmosphere that our customers value, and have grown to expect”.

Since being acquired by Lugus Capital and Patron Capital in 2024, Blackpool Shopping Centre and Retail Park welcomed a number of new retail outlets, including JD Sports, Eason, Hugmie, Jysk, and Kerry Hanaphy Aesthetics.

Blackpool Shopping Centre is anchored by Dunnes Stores and includes 45 units shops including well-known brands such as McCauleys Pharmacy, Eason, Peter Mark, Neville Jewellers, Cardfactory, Eurogiant, Bagel Factory and Insomnia.
